GETTING EUROPE TO #BEACTIVE

Ready, Set, Go! Special Olympics Athletes in Action

Europe issued the call, and Special Olympics athletes answered in their thousands! All over the European Union, athletes with and without intellectual disabilities got active as part of European Week of Sport. From floorball matches to healthy eating seminars - Special Olympics stood shoulder to shoulder in the fight against inactivity.

Floorball Fever Grips Estonia

Getting active is easy when its fun! Just ask the 100 floorball fanatics who took part in one of Special Olympics Europe Eurasia's flagship #BeActive events. As part of European Week of Sport, a Unified Floorball tournament was hosted in Tartu, Estonia. You can relieve all of the fun in our highlights video above.

Police Officers Promote #BeActive in Lithuania

Police officers from five EU countries joined forces with Special Olympics athletes in Lithuania to promote physical activity and inclusion. The group completed a Special Olympics Torch Run in the Lithuanian city of Kaunus followed by a football tournament to celebrate European Week of Sport. Police officer Ervins Zihmanis was so inspired he is planning a similar event in his native Latvia.

Bowling to Perfection in Cyprus

Bowling was right up everyone's alley as the #BeActive message made it's way to Cyprus. 80 players - with and without intellectual disabilities - laced up for the Unified event. Special Olympics Cyprus National Director Eleni Rossides said the event was "a strong demonstration" of the positive impact of Unified Sports.
